LONDON, UK. Facebook has today applied for and been granted official halal status by the National Council of Halal Products and the Halal Certification Board of the United Kingdom, following in the footsteps of social media giant Twitter.
This news comes only 24 hours Facebook announced it would start to charge for it’s service.
Jane Dew, a Facebook spokesperson said “This is simply the next step in ensuring Facebook is available to all who wish to use it. It doesn’t matter about your colour, creed, race or religion – you’re welcome on Facebook“.
The news is said to be a massive blow for far-right political parties who rely on the platform to recruit new members by spreading lies around the internet.
Facebook will start to display the new Halal logo on their website shortly.
